The pulley fan half of the transmission are replacement parts, similar to roller weights or drive belts. Often the drive belt can cause grooves to be worn into the inner flanks of the original pulley half, resulting mainly from stop and go riding in urban conditions. These grooves can be compared to ruts on the street, with the drive belt hanging their instead of gliding smoothly further, resulting in a noticeable power-dip while accelerating.
