Ref. Number: GT10P-C

Item Description

Original Vespa chrome side stand kit for the 2003-2013 GT, GTS, and GTV series Vespas.

This is an original Vespa part that came on the European Vespas. Made in Italy. They were taken off for the North American market, but we have them available so you can restore your Vespa to the way it was originally designed.

The 200, 250, and 300 cc Vespas can be a little tricky to get up on to the center stand. This sidestand makes it much easier. Just kick down the side stand and be on your way. Great for shorter or smaller riders to use while getting on and off the scooter, even if you are still planning on using the center stand. The sidestand is used as an alternative option to the center stand. Installing a handy sidestand does not require the removal or effect the operations of the standard center stand.

Very easy to install and includes all hardware necessary for mounting including springs, bolt, and buffer. Scroll down for Installation Instructions of a similar sidestand. The spring puller tool in the related items below makes this installation even easier.

Also available in black and aftermarket quality. See related items below.

This side stand is not technically correct for 2014 and newer GTS and GTV models. It will install but you will have to drill a hole into the frame to mount the springs.

This side stand kit fits 2003-2013:
-GTS250ie Super
-GTS300ie Super

Installation difficulty: - Easy with basic tools

TECH TIP - This SIDESTAND installs with common sense and basic tools, however reference # TOOLSPRING , will make the job much easier and safer. The special hooked spring installation tool will keep a rogue spring from flying across your garage or from taking out your eye and leaving yourself blind ;). Total installation time shouldn't exceed 15 minutes. Make sure to use a high quality grease with a viscosity similar to the grease used by ScooterWest's service department (reference # GREASE).

**Disclaimer** Sidestands are less stable than centerstands. The Vespa sidestands don't lock in the down position. You also need to make sure your scooter is parked on stable and flat ground when the side stand is in use. When used with common sense they are very handy to have.

Vespa GT-GTS-GTV Side Stand Installation Instructions

Warning: Use side stand with caution, scooter is not as stable on the side stand as it is on the center stand. Never sit on the scooter with the side stand down. Never start the scooter when it is on the side stand. Only use the side stand on flat and level surfaces. Scooter may fall over if side stand is used on loose soil or hot asphalt. Always verify that the side stand is fully retracted before riding the scooter.

Tools Required:
o Safety Glasses
o 17mm Wrench
o Spring Puller (Part # TOOLSPRING)
o Waterproof Wheel Bearing Grease.

Parts Included with Kit:
o Side Stand
o Rubber Bump Stop
o O-rings (2)
o Springs (2)
o Pivot/Mounting Bolt

1) Locate the side stand mounting point on the scooter. It is on left side, under the floor board, parallel with the security hoop. Remove the masking tape (if present) from the mounting point.

2) Prepare the side stand by installing the rubber bump. It may need to be twisted in the hole for the bump to seat properly.

3) Lightly grease both o-rings.

4) Install o-rings over each side of the side stand mounting points.

5) Pack the side stand pivot/mounting bolt grooves with grease.

6) Slide the side stand over the mounting point on the frame. The threaded end of the side stand mount will face to the left.

7) Install pivot/mounting bolt from the right side of the scooter.

8) Tighten the bolt with a 17mm wrench or socket.

9) Roll both o-rings into the groves on the round mounting point

10) Slide the smaller diameter spring inside the larger diameter spring. Both hooks should face the same direction.

11) Hook the shorter side of the spring onto the spring mounting point on the scooter frame.

12) Using the spring puller tool, hook the puller to the springs. (Safety glasses recommended, springs can come off with great force if they dislodge from the spring puller tool.)

13) Hold the side stand in the retracted (up) position, stretch the spring with the puller and hook it over the spring mounting post on the side stand. Carefully retract the spring puller hook from the spring.

Check operation of the side stand. The stand should not bind and should retract freely when released.

Recommended Maintenance:
Every two years, or when the side stand does not retract freely. Pull the side stand apart in the reverse order. Inspect both springs for wear. Re-grease the pivot/mounting bolt and o-rings and re-assemble.
