VOLTAGE REGULATOR/RECTIFIER 12 VOLT 5 POLE LATER SINGLE YELLOW WIRE - VNX/VSX/STELLA/PX MOST BIKES WITH A BATTERY (185824 82587R 58096R)

AC/DC Regulator/Rectifier 12V 5 Pole. This regulator has two function: 1) A shunt regulator for the AC power from the stator to the headlight & 2) A rectifier/regulator to charges the 12 volt battery for the horn, and other circuits powered by the DC 12v Battery.  This regulator essentially has two isolated regulators one for AC and the other for DC charging of the battery.

Functions of the terminals on this voltage regulator are:

  • Both A terminals are the AC shunt regulation for AC lighting. They are isolated from the three following DC Rectifier/Regulator terminals
  • G terminal that goes to the Charging coil on the stator, typically a single Yellow wire.
  • B+ terminal goes to battery positive and is protected by a fuse on the scooter and is typically a Red wire.
  • Ground terminal that ties to a Black wire and will have continuity to the frame of the scooter and Battery negative terminal.

Wiring tips for Stella & LML 2t & 4t scooters:

  • The Grey and Yellow wires are the AC voltage from the stator. These pair of wires connect to the terminals marked with A
  • Violet wire is 12+ when ignition is turned on. On the regulator this connections is marked with G and is marked yellow.
  • Orange wires on the Stella are from the battery and main fuse. On the regulator this connections is marked with B+ and is marked Grey.
  • Black is Ground. On the regulator this last connections is marked with the ground symbol and is also marked black.

With a fully charged 12 volt battery, the battery voltage will read between 12.6 and 13 volts when the engine runs and with a fully charged. The DC charging voltage is very low on the Stella electric start, the Battery only powers intermittent DC 12 volt loads such as the horn, turn signals and electric starter.  Tail light and headlight are powered by the AC coils when the engine is running.  We recommend the use of a Battery Tender style battery maintainer when the scooter is not used to keep the battery charge topped off.   Stella scooters make use of a Switching Module #C-4727388 to switch on the DC loads like the tail light once the scooter starts and AC power is generated from the stator plate.

Fits the following models:
