| Description | If you barrel looks wasted and you want to get it back in service, one of the best things to do is to have it re-machined and installed with a brand new piston. Unfortunately, this is not an easy thing to have done, but it is a service that we provide. If you send us your barrel, we'll measure the bore of the current cylinder with a dial bore gauge so we can make sure we fit it with the appropriate oversize piston. We'll even give you 15% off any piston we have in stock. After machining, your cylinder and brand new piston will be returned to you freshly machined, honed, chamfered and ready to install. This is not a service that can be performed by all machine shops. It requires very precise measurements and most machine shops are not interested in single cylinder motorcycle machining. In fact, vintage Vespas are air-cooled and the piston-to-cylinder wall tolerances need to be checked very carefully. Precision is key, but we'd be happy to do it for you and you can rest assured that we only provide this service for Vespas.
