GTS250/GT200: Leg Shield Installation
Side bracket installation:

Step 1: Remove the screws on both sides at the bottom front corner
of the rear lower cowl and take out the lower cowls on both sides.

Step 2: Left hand side: Remove the little spring from inside by
using spring puller or use anything you can think of to get it
off. You need to remove the spring because the spring is in the
way for you to loosen the nut from inside. Use 17mm socket wrench
to loosen the inside nut just enough to slide in left side adapter
bracket for the leg shield bars. Don't take
the nut all the way off.

Step 3: Replace the screw provided and insert the adapter bracket
into place. Tighten back the inside nut and pull the spring back
into place.
Step 4: Screw in the lower leg shield bracket with spacer,
washer and screw provided.
Right Side Bracket installation.

Step 5: Use 5mm Allen wrench to unscrew the bolt from the right
side foot peg. Take out the bolt and use the bolt and nut provided
with the leg shield kit.
The bolt came with the bike is too short.

Step 6: Slide in the bracket into place and use the new longer
bolt to screw it back in. Use the nut to tighten the screw from
the inside.
Step 7: Tighten right side bracket with the screw provided
with the leg shield kit.

Step 8: Remove the Piaggio badge and attach the center bracket
and chrome plate with the longer screw provided
Step 9: NOTE: You will
NOT be able to replace the piaggio badge unless you break off
the tabs and glue it on to the bar braket.

Step 10: Attach the right side leg shield
in the bracket.

Step 11: Use spacer, washer and screw provide to attach mid section
of the leg shield, do NOT tighten it down
all the way yet.

Step 12: Do the same thing on the right side leg shield and attach
to the front adapter.
Step 13: Bolt on both sides of the back lower bars to the
brackets you already installed.
Step 14: YOU WILL NEED TO ZIP TIE
THE COOLING HOSE AWAY FROM THE BOLT FOR THE LOWER BARS. THIS IS
VERY IMPORTANT AS IT COULD WEAR A HOLD IN THE HOSE IF YOU DON'T.
Step 15: Now tighten down all the screws for the bars.
Step 16: Put back on the left and right side plastic cover cowlings.

Step 17: When your bike is off the stand,
the air scoop cover will touch or almost touch the left side of
the leg shield bracket. You will need to shave off some of the
plastic air intake scoop or it will break off when you drive the
scooter over any bumps.
If you choose not the shave off the plastic air intake cover,
then you must bend the bracket so that it will not touch. (early
2004 GT200 had a different air scoop that fits without cutting
it down or bending the bracket).
